A Bit About Me
I am Oorooj Qadri, a mother of a ten year old gymnast living in West London. I had a dream where I could help mothers have an amazing birth experience like I did, whatever the outcome. I was fortunate to have support and love when my son was born. Living in London, it is easy for women who are expecting or new mums to be side lined. People saying ‘just get on with it like I did!’ is a negative connotation to someone that has to learn to be a mother from scratch, not knowing what to expect.
I see pregnancy, birth, and the growth of a family as one of the most beautiful things about humanity.
After going through my first pregnancy, I felt this amazing empowerment and connection with my body, my partner and my child. The experience was intense and overwhelming, but also very very awesome, and I was grateful to have my own Doula type of person there to nurture and keep me balanced throughout the process. I felt then that it was my calling to become one myself.
In my role as a certified Doula, I offer support to women and their partners before, during and after childbirth. My role is to help facilitate safe, positive and empowering birthing experiences by offering the information, emotional support and physical support needed during this time.
